  Really Bad Day Today!

  i woke up to my kids all sick, a letter in the mailbox (put there sneakily sometime early this morning) saying that we should 'return to serve jehovah and become one of the family again' (cannot understand the association of meeting attendance = being part of a family.

  family is family no matter what they choose to believe.

  ) and to top it all off, our 10 year old dog who has been really sick past week, had to be put down a couple of hours ago.

  Brooklyn Bethel to be sold. Has anyone else heard this?

  i'll bet it's already been posted and i missed it but if not, i just heard that brooklyn hq is to be sold over concerns for safety following the 9/11 attacks.

  the news has come to me through an incredibly loyal jw sister.

  i know her, she wouldn't repeat anything like this if she hadn't heard it from the kingdom hall or a circuit overseer.. anything to this?.

  Tophat, I know it's already been quoted, but what you asked needs to be asked a thousand times over:

  "WHY? Doesn't Jehovah protect them from any harm that might come from a terrorist threat?

  Shouldn't the WTS rely on and put their trust in their God? OR did Jehovah reveal to them a message to sell sell sell all property in Brooklyn?"

  Reminds me of another question: why would god need a witness, anyway? Oh the preposterousness of it all!

  Yeah, lady liberty, I think they are gonna' "take the money and run." I really do think so, even if they do it little by little as the JW religion dissolves into a smaller and smaller, fragmented following . . . what a shame.

  Kudra - thank you for clarifying that info, re: paleoclimatology. Oddly enough, I think it would be more interesting than meteorology (because of my interest in really old stuff (like fossils) and evolutionary biology. Anyway, thank you for the wonderful posts.

  I just want to thank you personally Warlock for starting these arguments against global climate change; it just helps spread the knowledge when people keep discussing it, learning more about it, and researching because of someone making such remarks. I've certainly learned a couple things from threads like this.

  So please, oh pretty please, do not make this your last word . . . after all, just because you're outnumbered by about 2,000 scientists and by a few good minds at this board does not prove that you might be mistaken - not at all. If you have a theory to prove, then by all means, prove it. We are waiting for your dissertation.

  Nice posts, everyone! I wish I knew a little more about its specifics to speak on it here; I've been trying to follow along at climatology websites, but it's just so tedious to read about climatology.

  Did I mis-spell "prove"? Why prove, but proof?

  Do you know what your last name means and where it comes from...?

  i have always been interested in what last names mean and where they come from and if someone famous in the past is related to us because of the same last name.

  my last name comes from greek but my family is not greek.

  it dates back to the year 700ce and it was around the time in europe when people were starting to get last names - i'm talking about the general people not monarchs.
